Home Improvements 2010

It's finally time for Justin and I to start making some home improvements =)!! Yay! After four years in the house, many of those "some day...we will..." projects are coming true. It's quite exciting!

Ever since moving in, we've talked of painting and putting in laminate floors. The painting is underway this week, and next week our floors and a tile back splash in the kitchen will be put in! It's going to feel like a whole new house =)!

Here are some pictures of the painting we've been doing this week. Our office is now green and the guest bedroom is a brown/tan/yellow-ish color (it looks more yellow in the pictures than it really is in person).

Once I get my laptop back from the tech people at school in a few weeks, I'll post pictures of our floors and backsplash--woohoo!

Senior Trip to Galveston

This past Memorial Day weekend I had the great pleasure of serving as an extra chaperone for the Seniors trip to Galveston. It definitely made me stop and think of my fun trips in high school (and realize how terrified our teachers and parents must have been at times, letting us run all over the place by ourselves!). Luckily this year's group of seniors is amazing, and very well behaved. I like to think that they are similar to my graduating class (which I believe was a favorite of all our teachers--right NW Class of '98??). At any rate, for the most part, the trip was AWESOME and I had a great time getting to know some of the students better and learning what they would be doing after graduation this Friday. I will definitely miss many of them next year, as I've had some of them for 3 or 4 years straight, but I'm excited for them to move onto this next phase of their life. While most of the trip was fun...here's a little top ten of

"Not so fun things (mostly related to the stellar hotel) on the 2010 Senior Trip..."
1. Staff room number one--lock didn't work, tried room number two--it was still dirty complete with pizza boxes, third room was a charm

2. Staff room number two--started flooding after one night, tried room number two--you guessed it DIRTY and NOT ready, again-third room was a charm

3. The alarms kept going off on Sunday night...

4. ...and people were getting arrested (so yes, I felt really, really safe)

5. The AC on the front of the bus broke...leading to sweaty bum and an uncomfortable four hour ride home

6. The hotel "couldn't" print me a receipt showing I bought NASA tickets from them...what kind of place can't print a receipt????

7. The hotel RAN OUT OF TOWELS...I'm still not sure how this is possible...

8. The advertised breakfast said eggs...oh, but not scrambled, hard boiled...it was weird

9. Closed Captioning did not work on our TV...perfect for a room with two Deaf people =)

10. Rooms that were supposed to be all in a row, all on one floor were actually spread out all over the place...making it very fun to keep track of everyone and make sure no boys were in girls rooms and vice a versa...

Now, though I make this list of unexpected and often unwanted happenings, it really was a fun trip and I could probably make a list of at least 20 fun things that happened. I will always remember this trip and the fun time I had with our awesome group of 2010 graduates! Once someone sends me some pictures, I'll be sure to post them =)
