Let's see, we're all adjusting to the fact that Andrea (Justin's older sister) is going to have twins. We're all quite excited and can't wait to find out if it's two boys, two girls, or one of each. I don't care, as long as they are healthy!
In preparation for the arrival of the twins, Andrea and Kyle have decided they do not really have the funds (or the room in their house) for their two large dogs. Justin lived with them for a few years here in TX before we got married, and was quite attached to their one dog, Mozart. Mozart is a sweet, sweet guy, but a little furry. He is a golden retriever and is beautiful. So, when we learned that they would be giving him away Justin couldn't bear to think of Mozart going off to some random household where none of us would see him again (yes, he is a dog, but he's still been a part of the family for seven years). So, Justin asked me what I thought of taking Mozart in, if he and Sierra got along. My first thought (as Justin KNEW it would be) was FUR-AAAHHHH! But, after thinking it over and discussing I realized that Mozart is a really good dog, and I could probably handle brushing him each day in order to minimize the amount of fur he deposits all over the house =). At any rate, in two short weeks, Mozart will be coming to our house, hopefully to stay. He and Sierra have met twice now. Once at Mozart's house and once at our house. They are a little wild together at first, but once they calm down we think they will get along fine. Assuming they do, Mozart will be there to stay. Should be interesting to say the least. I will let you all know how that goes.
In other news, Justin and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day, and found it hard to believe that it was our fifth Valentine's Day together. It seems like just yesterday that he cooked dinner for me for the first time on that first Valentine's Day. Crazy. It's even harder to believe that in less than a month we'll be celebrating two years of marriage. WOW!
The most recent exciting news is this past weekend in Indiana with my extremely talented students. I co-coach the academic bowl team (which is one of my FAVORITE parts of my job) and this past weekend we traveled to the IN school for the deaf for the mid-west regional competition. This year featured 16 extremely talented teams. We were a little shocked at the level of competition. Normally there are three to five really strong teams and another 11-13 "okay" teams. This year it was the opposite! But, my kiddos fought hard and still placed fourth =)! They were truly awesome and everyone had so much fun! We even had team exercise/yoga on Thurs and Fri night. Quite comical to watch a high school boy attempt to do yoga. It must have done some good though, because they sure competed well! Of course they still wish they would have placed 1st or 2nd since those teams then go onto nationals in D.C., but as their coach I'm extremely proud of them, and know that they did their best. The only bad thing is we got very little sleep, so now I'm really tired =!
That's about all for today, just one quick McKayla (my niece) story. Justin had dinner with his parents this weekend and his mom told him that when McKayla was over earlier in the week his mom asked her if she wanted a "C-o-o-k-i-e". McKayla smiled and whispered "yes." (Mind you, she is VERY smart, and I immediately knew it was a bad idea...haha). Then, on Saturday McKayla was over again and his mom asked her if she wanted crackers, cheese, a granola bar or some carrots. McKayla smiled and said, "No, I want a c-o-o-k-i-e". She has a VERY good memory....and now Grandma might be in trouble for teaching her that--haha!!!!
Hope you're all doing well and congrats to my HS friend Rachel on the birth of her beautiful baby girl Macy this past week!!!
Here is a picture of Mozart...potentially our newest family member =).
