Daddy Hairdo Time

Daddy took over bath duty last night and concocted this hairdo for our little princess :)

And, hard to believe, but six weeks old already!
We are enjoying Brie more and more each day. She is becoming more and more alert, is starting to smile more, and is starting to "talk" sometimes :). She finally tipped the scales at just over 8lbs, so she's still a little peanut, but is slowly packing on the ounces. One thing is for sure, she is definitely growing longer and longer!

One Month Old!

Wow-time flies! It's hard to believe our little peanut was one month old last Friday! It was an exciting day because it was also her first road trip to Dallas. And, her aunt Reanna and grandpa Long were in town. Fun times all around! For being one month old, Brie really did fantastic on her road trip. The first about 30-40 minutes when we were trying to get out of Austin (in some super not fun traffic) she was not really loving the car ride, but once we finally got out on the open road, she calmed down and the rest of the ride was fairly quiet. We traveled up to Dallas because Reanna, mom and I threw a baby shower for Katherine. We're so excited for baby girl cousin Long to arrive! Only 4ish weeks left--depending on if she wants to be an early bird or make us all wait and arrives late. The shower was actually a combo in person shower/virtual shower since Kat still has lots of good friends and family up in Minnesota. We hooked up with the Minnesota crew via Skype and it really was a lot of fun!

The hard part of the weekend was Sunday morning, when we had to say our goodbyes to everyone and head back to Austin. My mom has been with us ever since the day after Brie was born, and I loved having her here to keep me company, hold Brie so I could shower, hold Brie so I could nap, clean, do laundry, cook, etc! It was so hard to say goodbye to her, and to grandpa and Reanna. Hopefully, the timing will work out right and we will see them again soon when baby Long arrives! I had a friend tell me it's lots harder to say goodbye to family after you have kids, and boy was she right! I know how much my parents and sister love Brie and how hard it will be for them to be so far away from her, and that makes it super hard for me too! It's a good thing we have such great technology these days and we can have frequent Skype video chats!

Now that we're back home, we're settling into our new life as a family of three. We're trying to figure out our routines (well as much of a routine as you can have with a one month old!) and how this will all work with just me and Justin to tackle everything. It's going to be a fun journey--that's for sure!

We're looking forward to all of the new things that Brie will start doing in the coming weeks and you can be sure there will be blog posts about all of them :).

Here are Brie's one month photos and a couple pics from the shower:

Newborn Photo Shoot

When looking at different newborn photos to find some poses I wanted to do with Brie at our shoot this weekend, I saw all these beautiful pictures of angelic little sleeping babies and had the highest of expectations for the great photo shoot we would have with our little angel...then the time for the photo shoot came, and reality sunk in. Little miss Brie was super hungry yesterday and was not happy unless she was getting fed, not a great situation for trying to get photos taken. Luckily, we have an awesome photographer who has a 2 year old and knows the trials of trying to take newborn photos. Somehow, amazingly, he was able to snap a few really good shots yesterday, despite her melt downs. So, we planned for him to come back this morning, because she's usually pretty chill in the mornings. Well, it went better today, but we still weren't able to get any family shots yet. So, we're going to give it a few weeks, and hopefully by then we will have better luck :). At least now I have more realistic expectations of how a newborn photo shoot really works!

Here are a few more shots that we have so far, the rest will be done in a week or two after some photoshop magic.
I love how she is staring at daddy in this one--she loves her daddy!

Ahhh...there's my little angel (I have no idea how he snapped this, she was crying and/or squirming most of the time when we laid her down...amazing photographer!)

Justin's hand looks SO big compared to her tiny little head and body! Wow!
