We are now back in Austin after enjoying Christmas in NE with my family. (See pics below). I was also able to see my good friend from HS, Amy and her ADORABLE daughter Deni, so that was fun. We enjoyed the time with my brother and his new wife, as well as time with my parents and sister. After Christmas day, my parents, sister (and her puppy Gizmo), Justin and I crammed ourselves and all of our stuff into a van and took off on a fun drive down to Austin. Thankfully, we survived, however I don't wish to make the trip again any time soon. It is a VERY long day. Though I will say a van equipped with a DVD player does help make the trip go faster!
Once back in Austin, we prepared for the delivery of our new furniture! It was quite exciting! Justin had gone back to the store and bought me the baker's rack I wanted for my Christmas present, so I not only was looking forward to new living room furniture, but also a new baker's rack for the kitchen. It all arrived in good shape, and I have some pics below. Those of you who have seen our place (or old pics) will see how much more "grown up" our house looks now (those were Justin's actual first words--"It's looks so grown up!"). Anyhow, we're working on the final touches now and have definitely been enjoying the new look these past few days! We even found a new TV stand to match, which my dad and Justin had fun putting together for us. If I have time I'll write more later about our experience at Target with the TV stand...it was quite interesting.
After our furniture was delivered we were able to get out and see some sights around Austin with my family. We went to Fredericksburg for some shopping (well, the boys went to a museum, they could not handle the afternoon of shopping!) and then went to San Antonio to enjoy the river walk. All of you who have not come to Austin yet really should consider it--it's beautiful (especially when it's near 70 degrees in Dec/Jan!!).
For New Year's we enjoyed having Justin's parents, sister, and our niece come over for a fun night of appetizers and games. Justin's sister and niece had to leave early for McKayla's bed time, but Justin's parents toughed it out and lasted till midnight to ring in the new year. Around 9pm we all thought we may not make it as we were very tired, however after some rousing games of Totally 80's Trivial Pursuit (which is TOTALLY HARD!), Bunko, and Apples to Apples we were ready to blow our kazoos and ring in the new year. A good time was definitely had by all. I especially enjoyed showing off my adorable and super smart niece to my family. I talk about her all the time, so it was fun for them to finally see her again (since they first met her when she was only five months old!). She was really on a roll and told us all the story of Cinderella about five times. We also had some fun sliding at the park.
Today we had to send my sister and her adorable dog Gizmo back up to MN, which was sad since I'm not sure when I'll see her again. It's so hard to have family so far away!!
That's about all for now from our household, it's been pretty crazy and exciting lately, just in different ways than normal! Again, we hope you've all had a wonderful holiday and have a great start to the new year!

Hi! It sounds like you had a great, but busy holiday. I am so sad that I did not get to see you while you were in GI! That day turned out to be crazy busy for me...I tend to overbook sometimes. Love your furniture! That stuff is so exciting.
